Fashion sculpts

When sculpts first came in I could see the possibilities but they were hard work for someone who had no idea how to create them, well I gave it a try but wasn't really that good and never got the shape I was actually trying for.
As sculpts became more and more popular the fashion industry picked up on them and pretty soon many designs came out using sculpts to help 'finish' an outfit, hoods cuffs, turnups, draped fabric even skirts.
But what about those designers, like me, that could not get their head around creating the sculpt maps and shades needed to stay ahead of the pack?
For a long time I spent hours trying to work them out and trying to find modifiable ones and even buying the individual maps from SLX as they appeared. But these seemed very expensive and cost prohibitive in the end so I gave up thinking prices would come down and better programs for creating them would be found.
But then I met 10 Goosson and her partner Marcthur of M&M, Marcthur had become proficient at creating sculpts with 10 not far behind and between them they created packs of sculpts for fashion designers to use, as well as for almost any other purpose you can think of including shoes, flower petals, trees and furniture, far too many to tell you about here.
For me it was the answer I had been looking for and, I suspect, a lot of other major designers - sculpted cuffs, collars, turnups, drapes and hoods began appearing all over the grid.
10 and Marcthur continue to expand their range every pack comes with many styles, shade maps and clear easy instructions for how to make the most of the sculpt map provided.
So that new outfit you bought with the hoods and turnups probably sprang from M&Ms sculpt maps and if like me you can't make them yourself then check them out at http://slurl.com/secondlife/DoubleMM/183/113/77

M&M Creations
As an aspiring photographer here in SL (and one who just cannot seem to build anything but a square box), I found a wonderful selection of items at M&M that I could use in my studio. So I'm making my list!
A vast array of creative lighting prims can be found to select from. Any number of them would serve well as props to provide "just the right" mood to the photos I take.
Their well-sculpted trees are breathtaking - so realistic! One or two of those added to a scene would add depth and character to any portrait. And... to my utter surprise and delight, M&M even offers particle poofers in a great variety of styles, colors and sizes.
But I was particularly excited to find the "Lily Mysticalia" chair ! Not only would it make a conversational enhancement to the land around my studio, but could double as a prop for an inspiring photograph!
M&M Creations truly does offer an incredible selection of products that add the finishing touch to your own creations - or... inspiration for ... even photos!

Archipelis Designer V2.0 annoucement / Nice tool for SL

September 2008:
The Archipelis company is pleased to announce the availability of the version 2.0 of Archipelis Designer.
Technology:
Archipelis Designer takes a different approach to creating 3D models by simply drawing its shape! Just draw the contour of the various shapes of the model (for example: the head, the body, the legs) and Archipelis Designer automatically merges them and applies textures. It is also possible to use a picture or photo as a background and follow the contours on it.Thus, very simply and in about ten minutes, it is possible to create realistic organic models and to export them in widespread 3D formats like VRML, 3DS Max, DirectX or Google Sktechup and moreover Second Life.
It's so intuitive... This brand new version 2.0 is much faster, more accurate, can work up to 6 textures, can handle 3D interactions, can export the result to the Second Life platform...
All that for 38 euros for Apple Mac OS X and Windows.
Company:
Archipelis is a young company located near Bordeaux, France. It started its activity in the beginning of 2007 by providing Archipelis Designer, a 3D tool for both beginner and advanced 3D designers who wants to create 3D content in a fast way. Now, with the sucess of metaversed worlds, Archipelis is entering and focusing on this market with new applications.
